While it is debatable whether Ybarra’s challenge will be enough to get any new players to pick up the game, it does demonstrate that key members Microsoft’s Xbox division are excited about the title. The game also suffered from a rather shaky launch after some players were unable to play the game as the title had issues with its servers, as they struggled to handle the number of players attempting to load up.
Reviewers largely noted that while the game is able to provide players with amazing visuals and experience for the first few hours of gameplay, it is severely lacking in content. Released last week, Sea of Thieves was not received as well as Microsoft may have hoped. It is important to note that at this point no time limit has been provided in which to complete the challenge. Members of the Sea of Thieves community have taken notice of Ybarra’s challenge, with some even responding with theme appropriate gifs and memes.
